Alanya is located on the Eastern side of the Mediterranean Coast of Turkey. It is also known as Turkish Riviera. Alanya is a town where sun shines 300 days a year. The Great Taurus Mountains is a wonderful Northern addition to the beauty of this spectacular location. Alanya is the warmest town in Turkey. Due to the subtropic climate, even in winter the temperature doesn't go lower than +15-+20 degrees.
It is a great place to avoid cold, dark and humid winter months. In summer it never rains and the thermometer is always on 30-35 degrees.

For the first time Alanya is mentioned in the 4th century AD. The antique name of the city is Karakesion. Later, during the Seljuk conquer, the sultan Aladdin Keykubat (1200-1237) that conquered the town and made it his winter residence named it after himself - Alaiye. In 1935, during his visit, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk renamed Alaiye into Alanya.

Alanya Tower, the Red Tower, Seljuk Dockyard, the old city - Tolhane, Ahmedek, Suleymaniye Mosque, covered Seljuk trade center Bedesten, Darphane, Seljuk karvansaray Sharapsa Khan and Alara Khan and alara tower are only a few things about Alanya. Also there are 4 museums in Alanya: Archeological museum, Ethnographical museum, museum under the sky as well as Ataturk's home-museum.
Alanya is actually considered the heaven's corner on Earth and is one of the most beautiful places on the Mediterranean. The beaches spread for kilometers are mostly sandy and in some places the sand is so small that doesn't even stick to the body. The sea water color turns from blue to turquoise on Alanya's coast. When orange trees blossom, it seems like the whole town is in orange perfume. Whole year there are flowers on the streets and trees that blossom. Alanya is a place where a person's soul rests.
Alanya is called a city of caves, they are all over the shore and the coast. Damlarash, Dim, Pirate's cave, lover's cave, phosphor cave, Kadiyini and Hasbahche are the well known ones. The most beautiful beaches are spread for 20 km to the east and west of Alanya, some of them are: Damlatash (also known as Kleopatra beach), Keykubat, Ulash, Incekum and Mahmutlar.
The total area of the region is 158 225 hectars, 103 839 out of which are covered in forests. The total length of the coast is 70 km. The total population is 384 949 people, Alanya's population is 134 396 people. The total number of foreigners living in Alanya is 10 000 people.
There are 4 modern hospitals in Alanya. Moreover the region is considered a popular touristic center, it is one of the largest agricultural centers of the country. The main production is bananas, citrus, mushmula, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, peppers, cabbages and ets. There are 745 hotels in the region and resort homes for 104 711 people in total. You can get to Alanya by air, by land via great highways as well as by the sea. The most popular is getting there by air. There is an international airport that is 125 km to the west in Antalya. Alanya's port has an international status. The region itself has a very well developed public transport system that is controlled by the municipality, which is buses and the so-called ''dolmush''. It is also very easy to rent a car, an SUV, a motorcycle and a bike.
Alanya is a night city. It is quiet during the day and the city livens up during the night and is full of night entertainment.
