About Mahmutlar

Mahmutlar, which is a town of Alanya District of Antalya Province, is 150 km. far from Antalya and 8 km. far from Alanya. The Town of Mahmutlar, which takes much attention with its 4,5 km. beach to Mediterranean Sea, became a municipality in 1974. It is the first town municipality of Alanya. It is surrounded by Taurus Mountains (High Lands) in north, the Mediterranean Sea in south, the town of Kargıcak (touristic) in east and the town of Kestel (touristic) in west. If you want a break from this tranquil setting then a trip on the well-run public transport system of dolmus-minibus (every 10 minutes) will take you to and from Alanya.

     

The climate of the region is Mediterranean Climate, which is hot and dry in summers and warm and rainy in winters, and also it is changeable due to the heights. The temperature is 18,6°C on average. Maquis vegetation, called the Mediterranean Vegetation as well, is the dominant vegetation on the region except for the farming lands.

The population of Mahmutlar changes in accordance with winter and summer seasons. The summer population reaches 50-60.000 whereas the winter population is only about 15.000. More than 1.400 Dutch, Irish and German families who live permanently in town are also included in the winter population and the number is increasing day by day.
